I was among those who attended the Permitting Open House held by the county's Permit Process Improvement Team at the Kalana O Maui building in Wailuku on July 6.
I would like to express my thanks to Mayor Alan Arakawa and his team for aiding residents who are dealing with the complexities of the county's building permitting process. Representatives from several different departments were on hand to address our concerns and answer our questions one-on-one - all of them extremely helpful. I left the open house feeling as though Maui County was in my corner, thanks to the valuable input I received from several members of this team.
I hope that these open house sessions will continue, so that real solutions to streamlining the permitting process can be attained for the benefit of all, and so these very stressful permitting nightmares can be put to an end.
