Carving out some ‘pumpkin’ time

July 24, 2012
The Maui News
Lanai firefighter Darlan Corpuz watches over youths playing in the Fire Department’s portable water tank called a “pumpkin” during a water play day this month in Dole Park as part of the Lanai Summer PALS program. Fire crews set up the pumpkin, which is used as a water supply for helicopters, a few times over the summer to create a makeshift swimming pool to celebrate the students’ preparing for the upcoming school year. The county’s Summer PALS program ended Friday.
