Chef Paris Nabavi, owner of Cilantro Mexican Grill in Lahaina and Pizza Paradiso Mediterranean Grill in Honokowai, has donated funds to purchase organic seeds for the 2011-2012 school year for the Maui School Garden Network. This month, he pledged to continue providing seeds for Maui schools for the upcoming year.
In April, Nabavi hosted a food demonstration and lunch at his Kaanapali home for 20 Maui School Garden Network participants.
By providing the seeds to help students create their own food and showing them how to cook nutritious meals, Navabi hopes to encourage awareness about the the importance of sustainability for Maui's children, according to a news release.
