KIHEI - Two drivers were transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center in serious condition after a sedan crossed the centerline to collide with a minivan Saturday night on North Kihei Road, Maui County Paramedics Association spokesman Ryan Joslin said.
Along with ambulance crews, firefighters and police were dispatched to the crash near Milepost 2 on North Kihei Road in the vicinity of the Kealia Pond boardwalk, said Maui Police Department spokesman Lt. Wayne Ibarra.
The emergency call went to police dispatchers shortly before 8:15 p.m.
Medic 1 from Wailuku and Medic 10 from Kahului were on scene at 8:21 p.m., Joslin said. The patients were transported by 8:43 p.m.
Firefighters worked for about 15 minutes to extricate the sedan driver, a 35-year-old man who suffered arm and pelvic injuries, Joslin said.
