Nye aces No. 7 at Elleair Maui Golf Club
KIHEI - Steve Nye made a hole-in-one on Saturday at the Elleair Maui Golf Club.
Nye aced the 167-yard seventh hole using a 6-iron. Witnesses were Larry Rogers, Richard Blanchard and Roy Stuart.

Kraig Vickers Honor Run set for Aug. 5
KAHULUI - The Kraig Vickers Honor Run will be held Aug. 5 at Kanaha Beach Park.
The 5-kilometer event starts at 7:30 a.m., and 3K at 7:45.
The registration fee is $25 for the 5K and $20 for the 3K, and includes an event T-shirt, post-race breakfast, snacks and entertainment.
The run is being held in honor of Vickers, a 1992 Maui High School graduate who was one of 22 U.S. service members killed when their helicopter was shot down Aug. 6 in Afghanistan. Proceeds from the run will go to the Kraig Vickers Foundation, which helps assist local military members and their families.

Men's softball league accepting teams
KIHEI - The South Maui Parks Department is still taking rosters for its upcoming men's softball league.
The league is tentatively scheduled to begin the third week of August. Roster forms are available at 303 E. Lipoa Street.

Meetings set for youth volleyball league
MAKAWAO - A National Youth Sports Coaches Association meeting for elementary and intermediate volleyball coaches will be held on Aug. 13 at 5 p.m. at the Eddie Tam Community Center.
Also immediately following the coaches, there will be a mandatory Parents Association for Youth Sports meeting at 7 p.m. Coaches are responsible for parents' attendance, which is mandatory. Waiver forms will be handed out at this time as well as a code of ethics.
