U.S. Open of Surfing

Oahu’s Carissa Moore competes in the women’s portion of the U.S. Open of Surfing on Tuesday in Huntington Beach, Calif. Moore won her first-round heat with a score of 16.83. In the men’s competition, Maui’s Kai Barger failed to make it out of his round-of-96 heat, finishing fourth. Already through to the next round is Lahaina’s Granger Larsen. The event continues today.
