Two Rotary Clubs of Maui assistant governors will speak at the Rotary Club of Lahaina meeting at noon Thursday at Paradise Grill in Kaanapali and at the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise meeting at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 8 at Five Palms Restaurant at the Mana Kai Maui Resort in Kihei.
Rita Barreras ("Laverne") and Joanne Laird ("Shirley") will present the "Laverne and Shirley's New Rotary News Show." The pair have served Rotary District 5000 as assistant governors for the nine Maui Rotary Clubs since July 2011, and were named "Laverne and Shirley" due to their close working relationship and humorous leadership styles, according to a news release.
The pair will discuss the various rotary activities and events planned for the upcoming year.
The public is invited to both events.
Cost of the Kihei breakfast is $22. Lahaina attendees may order from the restaurant menu.
