Isagawa finishes in second place on Oahu
KAILUA, Oahu - Baldwin High School graduate Cassy Isagawa placed second at the Hawaii State Women's Stroke Play Championship, shooting a 3-under 69 in the final round on Thursday at Mid-Pacific Country Club.
Isagawa, entering her sophomore year at Oregon, started the day with a share of the 36-hole lead with Nicole Sakamoto, who finished up with a 67 to take the title. Isagawa, who earlier this summer won the women's state match-play title, finished the tournament at 212.
Kelli Oride (71) was a distant third at 219.

Larsen sent tO knockout round
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Maui's Granger Larsen placed second in his round-of-24 heat at the U.S. Open of Surfing on Thursday, sending him to a knockout round when competition resumes today.
Larsen had a two-wave score of 15.20 in his three-man, no-losers heat. Brazil's Gabriel Medina won with a 19.03, sending him straight to the round of 16. Larsen now needs to beat Brazilian Alex Ribeiro to advance.
In the junior men division, Maui's Tanner Hendrickson was eliminated after finishing last in his quarterfinal heat.

Stock car racing set for Aug. 11
PUUNENE - Stock car racing will be held on Aug. 11 at the Paradise Speedway Maui circle track.
Gates open at the Maui Motorsports Park at 3 p.m., with time trials beginning at 7. Admission is $10 for adults, $2 for children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and under.
