Police group, firefighters back Victorino

WAILUKU - Council Member Michael Victorino has received the endorsements of the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association Local 1463 and the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers.

Victorino, who was first elected to the council in 2006, holds the Wailuku residency seat.


Political advocacy groups for Halperin

Netra Halperin, a Democratic candidate for the state House of Representatives 11th District seat in South Maui, has been endorsed by the Patsy T. Mink PAC for Democratic Pro-Choice Women, the Hawaii Women's Political Caucus and EMILY's List.

The three groups are women's political advocacy organizations.


Supporters to host Baisa birthday event

PUKALANI - Supporters of Maui County Council Member Gladys Baisa will celebrate her birthday at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Pukalani.

There will be a "beefy" pasta dinner, a best cupcake contest, music and dancing by Deja Vu the Band, door prizes and other entertainment.

No tickets are required, but donations are welcome.

Baisa is seeking re-election to her Upcountry residency seat.

KAHULUI - Don Guzman has received the endorsements of the Hawaii Firefighters Association and the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers.

Guzman is seeking the Maui County Council Kahului residency seat.
