Waves Hawaii Billabong Camps instructor Brooks Bentley shows how to paddle into a wave while while conducting a pre-surf briefing for novice wave riders from Chicago and Seal Beach, Calif., on Tuesday morning at Kalama Park. Fellow instructor Eddie Teixeira looks on. Bentley started with ocean safety and went on to surf etiquette before explaining how to surf. Teixeira said that the beginners would soon be realizing their Hawaii dreams. “They have never surfed before, but I can guarantee they will surf their first wave today,” Teixeira said.
