The Maui News

PUKALANI - Parts of Pukalani lost power early Monday morning when the underground anchor of a utility pole on Hiolani Street gave way around 2:30 a.m., said Maui Electric Co. spokeswoman Kau'i Awai-Dickson.

Area resident Asa Ellison, who lives six houses away from the scene, reported being awoken by the crash and seeing a bright flash of light.

Electricity was restored to most residents by 3:43 a.m., Awai-Dickson said. Those customers included King Kekaulike High School and Kamehameha Schools Maui.
