Blaze burns brush in Kula

(FIRST PHOTO) A Maui firefighter works Monday at the scene of a half-acre fire on Koheo Road in Kula. The blaze burned overgrown grass, protea bushes and a couple of eucalyptus trees, a fire official said. Makawao and Kahului engine crews, a Kahului tanker, the Fire Department's Air One helicopter and a battalion chief responded to the fire, reported at 10:26 a.m., said Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga. He said the fire was contained at 11:16 a.m. and extinguished at 12:35 p.m. No damages or injuries were reported.
