LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Hawaii women's volleyball team is No. 8 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll released Monday.
Among the returnees for the Rainbow Wahine are Emily Hartong, a second-team All-American last season after posting a .369 hitting percentage, 25th in the nation, and averaging 2.23 kills per set; and Jane Croson and Mita Uiato, both picked for last year's Western Athletic Conference first team.
Also back is Kalei Adolpho of Molokai, who averaged 1.06 kills and 1.10 blocks per set. Kamehameha Schools Maui graduate Ginger Long is a redshirt freshman.

UCLA was picked No. 1 in the AVCA poll, receiving all but six of the 60 first-place votes. Texas is ranked second.
Hawaii, which has moved to the Big West, will open its season on Aug. 24 against Albany in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational.
