UH regents nominations sought

August 19, 2012
The Associated Press

HONOLULU (AP) - Nominations are being accepted for three seats on the University of Hawaii Board of Regents.

The university says the positions are an at-large seat, a Hawaii County seat and a Maui County seat. Those who currently hold the seats have terms that will expire June 30, 2013.

Regents serve voluntarily and are not paid.

The Regents Candidate Advisory Council is mandated by law to present the names of at least two finalists for each seat to the governor at least 120 days before a term expires.

The governor will make appointments from the list, which will be subject to state Senate confirmation.

The selected regents will serve for five years.

Applications will be accepted until Oct. 5.
