Students awarded scholarships by Valley Isle Timing Association

PUUNENE - Two Maui students were recently awarded scholarships by the Valley Isle Timing Association. Baldwin High School graduate Michael Wilbourn and Kamehameha Schools Maui graduate Kamuela Borge were each awarded a $500 scholarship check on Aug. 16 at Maui Raceway Park.

Wilbourn plans to attend University of Hawaii Maui College, with the intent to transfer to UH-Manoa. Wilbourn has competed in the Junior Dragster class at VITA and is currently racing a 2000 Firebird.

Borge is enrolled in the University of Hawaii Maui Campus' Automotive Mechanics Technology program. He is a member of VITA and races a modified 1972 Chevy truck.
