The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs' Cable Television Division will hold meetings this week on Molokai and Maui to gather community input about cable services provided by Oceanic Time Warner cable and the importance of Akaku: Maui Community Television, according to an announcement.
The hearings stem from Oceanic's application to the department for a renewal of the company's franchise to provide cable service to Maui County for the next 20 years.
The meetings are scheduled from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday at Kulana 'Oiwi, state Department of Hawaiian Homelands/Office of Hawaiian Affairs conference room in Kaunakakai; 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the West Maui Senior Center in Lahaina; and from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Cameron Center auditorium in Wailuku.
