Russell Takashima, 90, of Kahului, died on August 17, 2012, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 10:30am, with services at 11:30. Burial will follow at 2:00pm, at Maui Memorial Park.
Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. Takashima was born in Paia, HI on August 29, 1921. He was a stevador for Young Brothers, Ltd, for 32 years.
He is survived by daughter Faith (James) Minyard; grandchildren, Adam, Delisha, Derek, and Tawny Minyard, sisters Vivian Watanabe and Dorothy (James) Ogasawara
Russell was a very caring man. He belonged to the Mokichi Okada Association, and was proud to be a part of the 442nd, Company K. He was highly decorated with the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Congressional Gold Medal of Freedom.
