BEREA, Ohio - Baldwin High School graduate JoJo Dickson was one of nine players waived by the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
The 23-year-old linebacker had signed with Cleveland on May 14 and played in three preseason games, recording one tackle.
"I've said it numerous times that this is a tough time of year for a coach because you develop a relationship with the players, they compete extremely hard for you and you've got to make tough decisions and let guys go," Browns coach Pat Shurmur said in a news conference posted on the team's website.
Cleveland has the one former Maui Interscholastic player in the NFL - linebacker Kaluka Maiava, a Baldwin graduate heading into his fourth season in the league.
Dickson, who played collegiately at Idaho, had been waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars on April 27, less than two weeks after signing with them. He spent five days with the Jaguars in July of 2011 as well.
