COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Ryan Koss, a 17-year-old from Kula, is listed No. 1 in the USA Triathlon male 16-17 age-division rankings released Monday.
The Seabury Hall senior received more than 94.7 points in the organization's scoring sys-tem, more than two ahead ofsecond-ranked Sam Aleman of California.
Last month, Koss won the 16-19 title in the Rocky Mountain State Games sprint triathlon and placed first overall in the HITS Sprint Triathlon, both in Colorado.

Earlier this month, Koss placed 12th in the 15-19 division and 27th overall in the USA Triathlon national sprint championships in Vermont. He has also won the last two Honolulu Sprint Triathlons, and qualified for the state high school championships in swimming, cross country and track and field in the 2011-12 academic year.
