Keiki Tilapia Fishing Tourney set for Sunday in Kaanapali

KAANAPALI - The fourth annual Keiki Tilapia Fishing Tourney will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Kaanapali Golf Course.

Registration limits have been met, and a total of 600 children ages 2 through 18 are expected to participate in this family event.

All proceeds will benefit Maui United Way.

Golf fundraiser to benefit two nonprofit organizations

KIHEI - Integrated Broadband Network Solutions (IBNS) of Kahului will host a golf fundraiser to benefit the Kihei Youth Center and Maui Red Cross on Monday at the Elleair Maui Golf Club in Kihei.

There is a $99 entry fee, which includes an awards luncheon at Kono's on the Green. The fee increases to $109 after Friday.

Tee sponsorships may be purchased for $150.

MEO business development course graduates 26 students

MEO Business Development Center graduated 26 students from its Core Four Business Planning course on Aug. 21.

At the ceremony, graduates were able to talk with Maui business bankers who had volunteered their time to review the students' business plans and provide additional guidance in operating a successful business.

Core Four Business Planning is a 36-hour course that teaches students how to write a business plan. It also offers students information on how to start, operate and grow a business.

Kalaupapa Care Home receives lifesaving cardiac monitor

KALAUPAPA - Hawaii Life Flight donated a LifePack cardiac monitor to Molokai's Kalaupapa community July 30.

"Gratitude for your generosity in providing pro bono to a rugged, rural, remote, critical-access area of Kalaupapa," Kalaupapa Care Home Supervisor Carol Franko said of the donation. "It's an essential and priceless tool in saving lives and preventing death."

The cardiac monitor has been placed in the ground ambulance and will be used for visits to patients' homes and travel between the care home and the airport.
