In response to a the Aug. 19 letter about "Tea Partyer George Fontaine" and his failed mission in the recent legislative session: The letter writer is incorrect.
Fontaine is not a member of the TEA Party Maui organization. His ties with TEA Party Maui occurred on two occasions at the end of the legislative sessions and upon our request. He gave us a full briefing of what happened during the legislative sessions - and several thoughts as to why many things of interest did not pass.
Fontaine was thorough and knowledgeable in the content of his presentation, and extremely energetic with a reply for every question. I felt he had a ton of style and, in time, would be a tremendous asset to the people of South Maui as their state representative.
You see, George is a class act and will always be a gentleman and honor his office.
You will never see a Tea Partyer in public with anything less than a warm smile, bright aloha and a pleasant demeanor. Our group ambition is to lessen government spending to a level that matches its income (county, state and federal). We believe that the government should get its boot off the throat of individual entrepreneurs with its nanny state regulations. We believe in free markets. From the first annals of written history, free markets have worked each and every time. Finally, we believe the Constitution should govern the government.
