Love and support shown for grandson is appreciated

September 2, 2012
The Maui News

I would like to thank all the wonderful people who helped to remember my grandson Zion McKeown with all your love and support.

I know it has been some time since the vigil was held in his honor (The Maui News, June 9), but I see the picture in The Maui News (which I saved) every day and it brings joy to my heart to know how much you cared for him.

I cry for my poor grandbaby every day, but I know he is not in pain anymore.

I am planning to fly over for the trial and I hope I get the chance to meet Lawrenette Brown, who I understand was the sunshine in Zion's too short life.

I would like to thank her in person for that, and I know there is a special place in heaven for her.

There are many things about this little boy that people don't know, and I can't say anything until after the court case.

Once again, thank you so much and please don't let Zion's voice go dark as time goes by. Please keep him in your hearts.

I regret not writing sooner but his death took a toll on my health, which is not all that good to start with. I do plan on being there for the court case to thank everyone in person.
