Watch out for thieves behind the Makawao shops, below in the parking lots where there are no lights.
I was robbed from my car at the Third Friday Makawao night. My purse had more cash in it than usual, all my IDs and my phone, with all my contacts. Even more important was my little notebook that I make notes in regarding kids and youth on Maui for the new club and nonprofit I'm building for prevention of diabetes and childhood obesity. There was so much important information in there that I can't replace.
If the person who has it is reading this, just leave it at Rodeo General Store in Makawao for me with the important business cards in my bag. Thanks.
It sure would be nice to have a light for a little safety down there as there is not much parking elsewhere and we the public need to use it safely.
When I started to speak with shop owners, they almost all told me that it's known to be an unsafe place, that thieves hang out there. Well, not to all, obviously. This information is crucial and not shared. Why not? Why has no one done anything about it if it is a known hazard?
I sure would like to hear feedback for possible solutions to stop this from happening again.
