Pet spay and neuter program will offer medical services for donation

September 5, 2012
The Maui News

Dogs of all sizes and breeds may be spayed or neutered for a $20 donation during the month of September, thanks to a grant received by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Maui (SPCA Maui).

Dogs must be at least 4 months old, and there is a limit of five dogs per owner.

The requested donation will be applied to all canine spay and neuter surgeries scheduled through SPCA Maui during the month of September, and will not require any form of income verification. Additional donations will be accepted.

"Spay and neuter programs play a critical role in reducing the high euthanization numbers on Maui," said SPCA Vice President Peter Tierney. "By fixing one female dog, we can potentially keep as many as 30,000 dogs out of our island shelter."

In addition, SPCA Maui will host a mass spay and neuter clinic for cats on Sunday in Central Maui.

To schedule both cat and dog procedures, call SPCA Maui at 280-0738 or send email to info@spcamaui.org.
