Hiraga records ace at Waiehu

Hidemi Hiraga of Makawao recorded a hole-in-one at Waiehu Municipal Golf Course on Sunday.

Hiraga aced the eighth hole, using a 7-wood for the 134-yard shot, which was witnessed by Dean Masao Hiraga and Drew Brew.

Stock car racing set for Saturday

Stock car racing is scheduled for Saturday at Paradise Speedway Maui in Puunene.

Gates will open at 3:30 p.m., and time trials are to start at 6:45 p.m.

Spectator admission is $10 for anyone 13 and over, $2 for youths 6-12 and free for youths 5 and under.

Lanakila keiki program to start Sept. 15

Lanakila Volleyball Academy will conduct an introductory keiki program from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on eight consecutive Saturdays, starting Sept. 15, at Paia Gym.

The fee is $100, which also pays for a T-shirt, and applications can be downloaded at lanakilavba.net. Space is limited, and the deadline to register is Sept. 12. A birth certificate and medical card are required to participate.

A mandatory parent meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the first day.
