I am an avid night scuba diver, actively getting in the water about three to four nights a week. It's a great, fun, positive outlet that also provides some income and gives me a chance to show others Maui's spectacular marine life.
Imagine how disappointed I was after exiting the water at Kaanapali recently when I reached my vehicle. Apparently, someone has decided that the beach access spots are only available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. due to a hotel valet scratching someone's car (nonsense).
I have been diving the site for years, am using the beach spots to go to the beach and yet I was treated like a criminal. I was told I will be ticketed if I park there again - even though it is the only parking available.
Beach access is supposed to always be available as the beaches are public and there were 10 spots all open.
