In response to anyone who believes our president got everything he wanted: As our president was being sworn in, the Republican leaders were across the town planning to wage war on America (not just the African-American president).
From day one the GOP members of Congress used the filibuster to shut down every attempt to restore the economy. This was also true in the red states. The Obamacare bill itself was, in fact, opposed by most liberal Democrats. Barack Obama used the GOP plan to get health care passed. But even so, the GOP blocked its own plan (developed by the Heritage Foundation and Mitt Romney).
As for gasoline prices: Absolutely no president of government controls prices at the pump. Not even in communist countries. As Americans, we compete with every industrialized nations for our fuel even when the oil is produced in the U.S. The five major producers do not care (or concern themselves) with who might be the president (or dictator) of any nation on this Earth. In fact, every attempt to end $4 billion in oil subsidies has been voted down by the GOP even under George W. Bush and filibustered under Obama.
My choice: If you do not like an African-American in the White House, vote against Obama, but not against our self-interest. Preserve Hawaii's Democratic representation in Congress. The party of Lincoln has already proved its contempt for all U.S. citizens.
