No sympathy sought and none given in Senate race

September 9, 2012
The Maui News

Mazie Hirono does not want sympathy for votes by mentioning her mother's hardship.

Linda Lingle did not want sympathy by mentioning her mother's illness.

Lingle and Hirono are running for Senate. It will be a great race. Not about racism. Not about mudslinging. A bout of a woman's compassion to do what is right for Hawaii.

Mazie says for Hawaii's people. Linda says for Hawaii. I am trying to understand Lingle's meaning of Hawaii.

A rematch: Linda Lingle won before to become governor.

This time I am voting. Last time I didn't.

I give my acknowledgment to Lingle that she had a great mother and no sympathy given since none was asked. Just my late condolences.

March 31, 2008, when Aloha Airlines closed doors for service. It was not a joke on April 1 and neither was April 2. Gov. Linda Lingle couldn't save Aloha Airlines. I know why she couldn't, but she tried.

For trying, I say, "Thank you." Family comes first. Lingle had to leave Hawaii to take care of her mother's funeral at the same time Aloha Airlines closed.
