Cecilio Rodriguez of Cecilio & Kapono was released from prison in July after serving just five months of a reduced sentence for sexually assaulting two young girls over the course of many years in California.
Certainly this was not the first time he commited such heinous acts. He just happened to get caught. How is it possible that he is now free to resume his music career? He never faced a jury of his peers. He pleaded no contest and received a severely reduced sentence.
We as a society have to stop allowing celebrities to do as they please. We should make examples of these people and maybe others will think twice before they act. He is now free while his victims have to live with their pain for the rest of their lives. Where is the justice?
I would also like to know why local radio stations continued to play his music after he was found guilty. We need to make sure that he is never allowed to play music here. Let's not be hypocrites. Imagine if this was your daughter or sister. Let's make a stand. Let everyone know that we here on Maui have principles. Do not support him or others like him. I am sure he is planning a new tour. I hope he is never allowed here. Promoters: Please serve our island and don't allow this poor excuse for a human being to make a living. Please stand up for what is right.
