Too old to play but still part of opening day

September 10, 2012
The Maui News
Kihei Charter School sophomore Jordan Jarvis, 15, paints Karina Lynch’s face during opening-day festivities for the Kihei Region of the American Youth Soccer Organization at the South Maui Regional Park on Saturday morning. Jarvis, a longtime player in the region who is now too old to play on a team, is one of many Kihei kids who continue to participate as volunteers. AYSO regions around the island began their season this weekend. Kihei’s region has signed up its most kids ever. Nearly 400 players marched onto the pitch with their teams and their homemade banners Saturday.
