As a working journalist for many years (former managing editor of The Maui Reporter back in the early 1980s), I have always had great pride in and highest respect for The Maui News. However, in recent years the editorial stance has moved way too far to the right.
Witness the decision to publish the Sept. 6 letter "Obama has a long list of firsts among presidents." To permit such outright lies to be published as though they were truth is unconscionable.
The letter writer has a lot of brass to actually compose such a diatribe, populated by Tea Party talking points - yet another imponderable.
