In response to an Aug. 31 letter: As I do respect free speech by everyone, I do differ with the letter writer's innuendo regarding the two mentioned appointed Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustees in past years. These two past appointed OHA trustees were not mandated with the same condition - ineligible to run in the general election - as our OHA Maui trustee was.
Please be clear, I do not disrespect the talents of anyone's career. But I do disrespect a mandated agreement made public and not honored.
Most importantly, I stand up for the rights of others. This is about the truth and my voice is of the people and to be heard throughout Hawaii nei.
