Sept. 26-BasketballMaui will conduct a shooting clinic from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 26 at the outdoor courts at Maui High School. Instruction will be offered by Ed Palubinskas, a personal coach for the Los Angeles Lakers' Dwight Howard, and Ken Konecki, founder of the Mid-range 7 Training Program. The free clinic is for all ages. Participants under 18 will need a signed parental release form to participate on the courts. Sept. 29-The Waiohuli Hawaiian Homesteads Association's second annual scholarship fundraiser golf tournament is scheduled for Sept. 29 at The Dunes at Maui Lani, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. The entry fee for the two-person scramble is $110 per golfer, which will also pay for a luncheon, entry into putting, longest-drive and closest-to-the-hole contests and eligibility for hole-in-one contests. Oct. 1-The deadline to enter the 39th annual Lester Hamai Memorial Women's Golf Tournament is Oct. 1. The tournament is scheduled for Oct. 13 at Maui Country Club, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. Maui women golfers at least 18 years old with a GHIN handicap of no more than 36 as of Oct. 1 are eligible. The entry fee is $80, which will also pay for use of a cart, lunch and entry into contests. Oct. 6-The Maui High Foundation's benefit golf tournament is scheduled for Oct. 6 at Kahili Golf Course in Wailuku, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. * RUNNING

Oct. 12-14-Two instructors from Colorado - physical therapist Douglas Wisoff of Radiant Running and certified personal trainer Art Ives of The Way of Running - will conduct a clinic Oct. 12-14 in conjunction with the University of Hawaii Maui College's "EdVenture" program. The clinic will be held in Laulima Room No. 225 on the Kahului campus, and at outdoor locations, from 5 to 8 p.m. the first day, and from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each of the last two days. The fee is $299, and the deadline to register is Sept. 20. Contact: 984-3231.

Oct. 6-The eighth annual Cooney Surf Contest is scheduled for 7 a.m.-5 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Hookipa Beach Park. The event will have nine divisions, covering all ages. The entry fee is $25, which also pays for lunch and a T-shirt. Contact: 264-3112.

Sept. 30-The Wailea 4.5 Women tennis team will conduct a round-robin tournament, silent auction and dinner on Sept. 30 at the Wailea Tennis Club to raise funds for its trip to next month's USTA national tournament in Tucson, Ariz. The fundraising tournament is scheduled for 3-6 p.m., and the auction and dinner for 6-7:30 p.m. The fee is $20.
