I would laugh if this weren't so sad.
I filled up my truck with palm fronds that were too numerous for my green waste bin and headed to the dump. When I was almost to the green waste site, a guy on a patrol vehicle stopped me and said I needed to go back up to the weighing station. I said I was just dumping my yard waste, but he said I still had to go.
It turns out that because I have magnetic advertising on the side of my car, I am considered commercial and would be charged.
My magnets are for my condo-cleaning company, not landscaping. And I don't have commercial plates.
I went up to the office to complain and was told that those are the rules and I should contact my council person.
I pay my trash bill and don't throw my green waste down a gulch. And I expect the county to recognize that there are lots of cars with advertising on them these days. I should be able to sign a noncommercial waiver. Wake up.
