I want to know why The Maui News chose to highlight on the front page Colin Hanlon's expenditures in his recent foray into public service as a candidate for state House of Representatives (Sept. 9). The details were repeated in the body of the story.
I personally am relieved to know he will still be able to run the Maui Boys & Girls Club without any diversions, as I cannot imagine anyone taking his place in that capacity.
To highlight a dismal showing of someone who cares enough to try politics is not positive and doesn't encourage new people to step up to the political plate in the future.
What purpose did it serve?
