Kihei resident Jim Lynch (No. 89) runs past his own cheering section Sunday on Front Street while taking part in the Maui Marathon. Lynch, who recently moved to Maui from Denver, has completed a marathon in every state, and the Maui Marathon was his 89th. He is on track to reach his goal of finishing 100 marathons. Running next to Lynch in bunny ears is Yoko Doi of Saitama, Japan. A total of 775 runners completed the marathon that ran from Kahului to Lahaina. Allen Wagner of Hilo was the top finisher in a time of 2 hours, 43 minutes and 33 seconds. The top female finisher was Verity Breen of Burlingame, Calif., in a time of 3:04:08. Paul Hopwood of Makawao, with a time of 2:55:22, was the top Maui finisher. For more on the Maui Marathon, see Local Sports.
