September 18, 2012
The Maui News

A 73-year-old Paia man was arrested today in connection with the hit-and-run fatality on the Paia Bypass Road on Sunday.

He was later released without being charged pending further investigation.

The victim in the fatality has been identified through fingerprints as Gregory Lee King, 56 of Paia, according to Maui police.

His body was found around 8:15 p.m. Sunday in the middle of the Paia Bypass Road, 0.2 miles west of the Baldwin Avenue intersection. Evidence at the scene led investigators to believe that a Mitsubishi Galant was involved in the hit-and-run.

The 2003 silver Galant, believed to be involved in the crash, was located in Skill Village by a police officer this morning. The vehicle's owner was brought in for questioning, arrested and then released pending further investigation.

Police are still seeking the public's help in the case. Call Maui County Crime Stoppers at 242-6966 with information.
