Lt. Bailey Ball, a 2006 Lahainaluna High School graduate and a 2010 United States Air Force Academy graduate, completed his Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training and received his pilot wings on Aug. 17.

He was named Distinguished Graduate with the 71st Flying Training Wing at Vance Air Force Base, in Enid, Okla.

Ball will be assigned to the 319th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field near Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. He will train to pilot a U-28, an aircraft used for airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in support of special operations forces.

U.S. Air Force Airman James S. De Dios graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. De Dios is the son of Rey and Patricia Vergel De Dios of Kahului. He is a 2010 graduate of Baldwin High School.

De Dios completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

U.S. Navy Airman Apprentice Kaikona R. Hendershot of Haiku recently graduated from Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Hendershot is the son of Josephine M. and William T. Hendershot of Haiku. He is a 2010 graduate of King Kekaulike High School.

Hendershot received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. Training included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.

U.S. Army National Guard Pvt. James K. Legsay III graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Legsay is a 2006 graduate of Baldwin High School. He is the son of Dornali and James Legsay Jr. of Wailuku.

During the nine weeks of training, Legsay studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare, bayonet training and more.

U.S. Army Pfc. Raena A. Bulusan graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Bulusan is a 2011 graduate of Baldwin High School. She is the daughter of Richelle and Marvin Bulusan of Wailuku.

During the nine weeks of training, Bulusan studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training and more.

U.S. Navy Seaman Recruit Victoria Lynn K. Pszyk recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Pszyk is the daughter of Elizabeth K. Pszyk of Wailuku and Ronald Pszyk of Pukalani. She is a 2011 graduate of Maui High School.

During the eight-week program, Pszyk completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety.
