Jane Croson had 18 kills and Emily Hartong added 16 as the University of Hawaii women's volleyball team began its first Big West Conference season by defeating Cal State Northridge 22-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-17, 19-17 on Wednesday in Northridge, Calif.
Kalei Adolpho of Molokai had four kills for UH (8-2), ranked seventh in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The Rainbow Wahine hit .165 in the match.
Casey Hinger had 14 kills for the Matadors (9-4), who had a .132 hitting percentage.
Hawaii will play at UC Riverside on Friday.
