Cafe O’Lei integral to success of First Friday

September 21, 2012
The Maui News

Wailuku First Friday and the community have benefited from having Cafe O'Lei and Michael and Dana Pastula in Wailuku town.

As Cafe O'Lei moves forward, I wanted to extend my deep appreciation to them for being a huge part of Wailuku First Friday. Every month, Cafe O'Lei has provided dinners to the police who provide security and Teens on Call who clean the streets for our event. It is this kind of community spirit that Wailuku First Friday has grown over the years. It takes a community that works together toward a common goal to make things happen.

The article on Cafe O'Lei's departure from Wailuku town (The Maui News, Sept. 12) says that it will be closing its doors in October, and Oct. 5 will be the last First Friday that we will enjoy the friendly and hardworking workers, great food and aloha.

I believe Cafe O'Lei's successful business is reflective from the positive attitudes of the Pastulas throughout their staff and, of course, the delicious food.

I wanted to say: We appreciate you a lot. Thanks for helping to build Wailuku First Friday and Wailuku town.
