I am amazed that The Maui News ran the political cartoon in the Sept. 14 paper.
A long time ago, President Barack Obama said that when one cannot run on one's record, you have to resort to attacking the opponent personally.
The cartoon has no basis in fact, but only attacks Mitt Romney because of his wealth. Residents of the United States must realize that to the rest of the world, even the poorest among us are considered wealthy, and especially on Maui, the poor in any of the other 49 states would gladly switch places with anyone here.
Attainment of wealth is a goal of every American. It is part of the American Dream. Attacking achievement is the cornerstone of the Democratic Party, as it realizes that once the populace realizes that they can build it, they no longer need the government to build a nanny state.
