Ed Tanji deserved highest level of honor and respect

September 22, 2012
The Maui News

Ed Tanji (The Maui News, Sept. 13) was on my bucket list. The words out of my mouth when my husband told me that Tanji had died were, "Ohhhhhhhhh gee this is so sad - he was on my bucket list to ask to have lunch with me."

I have lived full time on Maui for 14 years and I thoroughly enjoyed reading all his articles and commentary. When he semi-retired and still offered us, his readers, a glimpse into his world and how he viewed it, I eagerly awaited his Friday "Haku Mo'olelo" column. I was excited to read what was on his mind.

I placed this man on the highest level of honor and respect in my book of how to view the world. My only regret is that I had not met him personally. Perhaps in another life.
