Kamehameha Schools Maui campus will be among Maui locations scheduled to host blood drives in October, according to the Blood Bank of Hawaii.
Along with student participation next month, Maui residents also can give blood:
* Oct. 22, Kamehameha Schools Maui gymnasium, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* Oct. 23, Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints Kahului gymnasium, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
* Oct. 24, Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints Kahului gymnasium, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
To make an appointment, call 848-4770.
The requirements are that volunteers be in good health, 18 or older (17 with a parent/legal guardian consent form), weigh 110 pounds or more and bring a valid ID with date of birth on it. The donation process takes about an hour, though the blood draw lasts only five to eight minutes.
The Kamehameha Schools Maui event is part of an overall Blood Bank of Hawaii effort to schedule drives at 11 campuses across the state in October, according to an announcement.
Last school year, students helped save the lives of 14,532 Hawaii patients.
