Wednesday-BasketballMaui will conduct a shooting clinic from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the outdoor courts at Maui High School. Instruction will be offered by Ed Palubinskas, a personal coach for the Los Angeles Lakers' Dwight Howard, and Ken Konecki, founder of the Mid-range 7 Training Program. The free clinic is for all ages. Participants under 18 will need a signed parental release form to participate on the courts. Saturday-The Waiohuli Hawaiian Homesteads Association's second annual scholarship fundraiser golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday at The Dunes at Maui Lani, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. The entry fee for the two-person scramble is $110 per golfer, which will also pay for a luncheon, entry into putting, longest-drive and closest-to-the-hole contests and eligibility for hole-in-one contests. Oct. 1-The deadline to enter the 39th annual Lester Hamai Memorial Women's Golf Tournament is Oct. 1. The tournament is scheduled for Oct. 13 at Maui Country Club, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. Maui women golfers at least 18 years old with a GHIN handicap of no more than 36 as of Oct. 1 are eligible. The entry fee is $80, which will also pay for use of a cart, lunch and entry into contests. Oct. 6-The Maui High Foundation's benefit golf tournament is scheduled for Oct. 6 at Kahili Golf Course in Wailuku, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. Oct. 6-The Wiki Wiki 5K Run and Walk and 10K Run are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 6. All events will start and end at The Vitamin Shoppe at Lahaina Gateway Center. Advance registration costs $30 - or $25 for Valley Isle Road Runners members, Vitamin Shoppe Healthy Awards Club members and anyone who will be 17 or younger on race day - and can be completed at flpregister.com/24, or from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Vitamin Shoppe on Oct. 5. Race-day registration will be $35 for all participants, and will start 60 one hour before the events begin. Today-Hawaii Youth Soccer Association Maui will be holding a mandatory meeting for all coaches for under-8 to under-18 level teams for boys and girls for the 2012-13 season today at the Maui High School cafeteria in Kahului. Friday and Saturday-Lanakila Volleyball Academy will conduct tryouts for boys in grades 9-12 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, and 2:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, at the Kamehameha Schools Maui elementary school gym.
