Two Haiku men were charged with burglarizing a Haiku residence last week after neighbors saw someone trying to break through a screen window to reach into the home, police said.
After confronting the suspected burglar, who reportedly said he was looking for someone, neighbors called police at 12:40 p.m. Sept. 19, providing a description of the vehicle the suspect fled in. Officers were driving to the residence on Hog Back Road when they stopped a vehicle matching the description, police said.
The driver, Marcus Magsanide, 19, was arrested along with Christopher Yorke, 21, who was a passenger in the vehicle, police said. A woman also was in the vehicle, according to police.
Bail was set at $15,000 for Magsanide, who was charged with first-degree burglary and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle after police determined that the vehicle he was driving was stolen.
Yorke was released after posting $1,000 bail on a charge of first-degree burglary, according to police records.
