The National Weather Service has posted a high-surf advisory for the south-facing shores of Maui County from 6 a.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday.
Generated by "a large and persistent fetch of winds in the southern hemisphere," surf is expected to reach heights of 6 to 8 feet Thursday and continue through Friday, according to the advisory. Surf heights are estimates of the face, or front, of waves.
