I have something to confess: I'm reading through the Old Testament part of the Bible for the first time in my life. I just finished reading the Book of Jeremiah. It occurred to me that history is repeating itself.
God warned the Israelites, through the prophet Jeremiah, to stop their sins and turn away from their idols or they would be punished. King Zedekiah and the people didn't listen, so God did what he said he would do.
God sent Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar to surround Jerusalem. After famine set in, King Zedekiah tried to escape but was caught. King Zedekiah's sons were killed before him and his own eyes were gouged out, then he was led in chains to prison in Babylon.
Today, God is warning us through modern prophets such as Vassula Ryden, Catalina, Luz de Maria, Josefina-Maria and others to turn away from sin and idols. (Josefina-Maria learned that TV is the idol spoken of in the book of Revelation.)
Our elected officials' roles today are much like that of King Zedekiah's role back then. We need to pray for the Big Island County Council and their county clerk's office, as well as all politicians in our state.
