A Sept. 22 contributor to this page shared the latest results of the Moochers Monthly Magazine poll of the top 10 places in America to be homeless and hungry. Maui once again topped the list with its plethora of low-paying service jobs, high cost of living and easy access to HI-5 recycle bins. Congratulations to all you Maui takers out there wallowing in the generous perks the nanny state has to offer.
Speaking of the nanny state, the letter writer failed to mention the au pair state. What is that, you ask? It's the state where the sons of wealthy makers get to go on important missionary work in dangerous places like the south of France instead of wasting their inherited talents and abilities slogging through the jungles of southeast Asia bleeding in the wars their parents make so much money from. The au pair staters aren't built for armed conflict like their swarthier and less successful countrymen who live in the nearby nanny state. Many of these nanny staters were incapable of taking responsibility for their own lives anyway, so the makers kindly stepped in and made some decisions for them.
