Having fun, doing good

October 2, 2012
The Maui News

It is always worth noting when friends get together to have a good time - but also make sure a worthy cause also benefits.

Randy Coon of Trilogy got together with his friends Stephen Fulton and Jennifer Brittin-Fulton of Maui Country Club to organize the "Second Annual Trilogy & MCC Lanai Charity Golf & Tennis Event."

Those three friends then convinced around 200 more of their friends to join them for a weekend on Lanai - and raised $7,000 for the Maui Food Bank to use on the Pineapple Isle.

Expeditons (the Maui/Lanai Passenger Ferry) and Trilogy ("Maui's First Family of Sailing") both donated boats to transport participants. The organizers pegged the value of these donations at $8,000 to $10,000 - which basically made the $7,000 donation possible.

The organizers also secured special room rates from the Four Seasons Lana'i at Manele and Four Seasons Lana'i, Lodge at Koele, as well as discounted green fees at the golf courses at both resorts.

By all accounts, everyone had a good time. Most importantly, clients of the food bank on Lanai will benefit from the thoughtfulness of the friends who organized this event.
