Batter up for team tryouts

October 3, 2012
The Maui News
Kamehameha Maui junior Macy Tancayo, 16, connects at Hitter’s Paradise on Tuesday as her grandfather Henry Lindo and friend Shaylisse Gregory look on. Tancayo said she is planning on trying out for the school’s girls softball team this year. The batting cages in north Kihei have expanded hours during the current school break. Owner Paul Skarbo said the cages will open at 10 a.m. through next Monday, and stay open until 9 p.m., except for an 8 p.m. closing time Sunday. The facility features eight pitching machines and five stations with baseball pitches from 50 to 70 mph, as well as slow- and fast-pitch softball.
